Magnesium Deficiency Could be Making You Stressed

Do you have anxiety, trouble sleeping, or restless leg syndrome? These are just some of the side effects of Magnesium deficiency. Many people needlessly suffer from this deficiency, and assume that their irritability is 'normal'. You deserve so much more than that!

What Causes Magnesium Deficiency?

Magnesium deficiency could be caused by a lack of Magnesium in the diet which is very common among those who are consuming the Standard American Diet. Diets very high in fat can hinder the absorption of Magnesium. It can also be caused by use of prescription and over the counter medications. Other factors that may increase the chance of a deficiency are stress, aging, calcium supplements, and digestive disorders.

How to End the Deficiency!

If you choose to take Magnesium orally, keep in mind that all Magnesium is potentially laxative, so the ability to absorb it through the GI tract is shortened compared to other supplements. My favorite oral Magnesium supplement is Natural Calm powder. Its non-GMO, vegan, gluten free, raw, what more could you want? This is highly absorbable, water-soluble Magnesium in ionic form so its a better choice compared to Magnesium capsules or tablets.

Magnesium drinks

Try getting fancy with the powder and mix it with some lemon juice, stevia, and water for a little stress-relieving lemonade! Or even blend it in a smoothie to take with you to work!

Supplementing Through The Skin

To get the most out of your Magnesium I would recommend looking into Magnesium oil. I started experimenting with different forms of Magnesium and found that the most absorbable form was Magnesium Oil since it isn't being rushed through the GI Tract. It is most often sold in spray bottles that you can spray on your body throughout the day. This is one of my favorite supplements because I can feel it instantly relax my body after a few sprays.

More Ideas

If you are looking for some food sources of Magnesium, just a few are whole grains, greens, nuts, and avocados. Eat up!

Another great way to get your Magnesium levels up is by having a float tank session. The water is filled with around 800 pounds of epsom salt which is very rich in Magnesium! I went in to a session with knots in my shoulders and they were gone after an hour of floating. I'll write another blog post in the future about my float tank experience more in depth.

Have you experimented with Magnesium supplements yet? Do you know someone who could benefit from this information? Pass it along and help the world be a little less stressed one person at a time :)
