When was the last time you had a massage? Many of us have been under the impression that massages are only for a nice treat after lots of hard work. What a limiting belief! Imagine if you could have a massage every day, how much better would you feel?! There are many benefits to receiving a massage, such as: -Reducing anxiety and stress -Lessening headaches -Relieving stress related insomnia -Pain management -Enhance exercise performance -Decrease symptoms of carpal tunnel pain -Aid in detoxification This list is just a small taste of what massage therapy could do for you. I recently had an hour and a half long deep tissue massage, and I had no idea how tense my body was until the therapist started to work on my back. Many of us hold stress and tension in our shoulders, and over time, muscle knots can form; there is a good chance that they won't go away without some physical manipulation. Many therapists recommend continuing with frequent massage if you have problem areas that can't be worked out in one session (like me). Aim for once a month at least, think of it as preventative care, or maintenance. Another great option is to purchase a foot massager online, or even a portable back massager that you can sling over the back of a chair. Often, these cost around the same as an hour and a half massage, so they are well worth it to fill in the blanks while you wait for your next 'real' massage :) Treat yourself, you deserve it! Massage is a wonderful form of self care! Do you have a favorite type of massage? Deep tissue, hot stone, thai, swedish? Leave me a comment! ~Lizzie Love
